Very Berry

It's berry season, and you know what that means... HOMEMADE JAM!
Maddy, her mom (Liz) , Mary and I went to Dan's Farm, a spray free farm for pounds and pounds of strawberries. We managed to pick 84 lbs in about an hour! Pretty sure we would've gotten even more if we hadn't sampled every other strawberry. Need to make sure they're good, right? It was my first time picking berries, and I'm sure it won't be my last.

Pickled

This past weekend for our friends birthday/welcome back party we decided to go pickle boating. Now what is pickle boating you ask? Well it involves riding harbour ferries to 4 different pubs and getting pickled (drunk) along the way. You get a free appy at each pub with every 4 people in your group. For Lo's birthday we decided to dress to the nines and all of us girls slipped on some heels. This way the first time any of us had been pickle boating and I cannot recommend it enough.

Skip two days to Pickle Boating Take Two

I went pickle boating again two days later for another friends birthday. This time we went at 1 o'clock as opposed to 6:30 so we had plenty of time to hang out of the patios. The weather couldn't have been better. We had homemade cupcakes on the boats as well as a very relaxed captain who wanted us to sing sea shanty's to him. We had great company and somehow managed to stay out late enough to go to  Darcy's to watch one of our favorite bands play.

Deep Cove Chalet

Since I was a child whenever my family had a special celebration my grandmother would take us to the Deep Cove Chalet. The Deep Cove Chalet is very significant to my family as my parents had their wedding reception there, we threw my dad a surprise birthday there, and my grandmother has been going there for almost 40 years. So being the first grandchild to graduate University my grandmother wanted to take me out to celebrate. The food here is unbelievable, and the crazy thing is that the menu hasn't changed since when my grandmother first went. The boys went for the set menus and each had a four course meal. I opted for a salad to start and the filet of beef for my main. Even though I was stuffed I had to indulge in my favourite dessert there, the flourless warm chocolate cake.

The owners pup who you can sometimes find feasting on crumbs under the tables

The amazing view- we managed to make a reservation for the perfect time as we were able to see the sunset while enjoying our dessert.

1 fish, 2 fish

I can finally check Red Fish Blue Fish off of my food list. Red Fish Blue Fish is an amazing food truck in the Inner Harbour and has been featured on Eat St. Theres always a huge line, so unless it's raining expect to wait at least 30 minutes. The wait is worth it! Phil and I went down on a sunny Saturday afternoon, waited in line for about 45 minutes and left with smiles on our faces. The menu consists of fish and chips, fish tacones, and so much more. We opted for the fish tacones. We tried the grilled seared Albacore Tuna, and the grilled Salmon tacones. Both were out of this world. Definitely going to have to go again.

The views not so bad either

Welcome to the Real World

Getting ready

Graduation day came and went in the blink of an eye. I am still in disbelief of how fast these past four years have gone.
Since I went to school in Kelowna, my parents, Phil and I road tripped up there for my graduation. After a full day of cards, naps and games we made it to Kelowna. Shortly after we arrived we went for Thai food at my favorite restaurant called Bai Tong. The owner is amazing and will visit each table to help them choose their meal. The next day was my graduation ceremony. Since my ceremony wasn't till the late afternoon and it was 29 degrees we decided to spend the morning lounging by the pool. The ceremony was great, and I was happy they pronounced my name right when crossing the stage. After the ceremony was over all the families and grads gathered in the courtyard for some beverages and snacks. My roommate, her family and us met up for dinner at Summerhill winery, to celebrate our accomplishments. The food and wine were amazing, as was the view and company. All in all a great trip.
